Dr. Sharon H. Mastracci - Professor and Published Researcher
After graduating with honors with a BA from Ohio University followed by an MA in economics, Sharon H. Mastracci continued her studies at the University of Texas at Austin. There, she earned her PhD in public policy through the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Sharon Mastracci then became a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
Subsequently, Dr. Mastracci accepted a position as a professor of political science at the University of Utah. Alongside this role, she has taken a leading role in research in the area of emotional labor in public service. She evaluates the effect of variables such as burnout, gender, and motivation for those working in organizations in the public sector.
Sharon H. Mastracci's research with colleagues has been published in numerous articles addressing topics ranging from administrative discretion to improving police-victim interactions. She has also provided insight into the impact of emotional labor on professionals serving the public in the field of law enforcement and corrections.
